How to Tease Your Hair
How to tease you hair is actually easier than you may think! Teasing your hair is also know as Backcombing. If you feel nervous about the teasing process you can practice on a wig or contact BeautySmack with any questions, and our expert stylist will be happy to assist you. If predictions of big hair are correct for the 2009 fall hair trends then follow these simple steps to remain fashion forward:
- Be sure to work out any kinks or curls by blow drying your hair straight or using a flat iron if you are looking to create a bee hive look. Otherwise you can incorporate your natural curls into a look similar to the picture above. If you want to create a little more volume try flipping your head upside down while applying heat to the roots of your hair. Be sure to protect your hair by letting it cool off from the heat of the styling tools in order to prevent breakage. Teasing has a tendency to damage your hair so be aware.
- Separate your hair into strands that run horizontal along your hairline. Be sure to work out any knots by using a soft bristle brush. This is very important.
- Next take a metal comb or teasing brush and part off a section of hair from the rest of the strands. Clip the remaining hair out of the way.
- Take your first strand and hold it vertical to your head and take the comb and essentially backcomb the hair. You do this by combing the hair in the opposite direction from the growth of the hair. Brushing towards the scalp without too much force. You don’t want to break your hair. For fine hair spray with a little hair spray in between the teased strands. Repeat this from the front of the scalp to the back of the head.
- Shape your hair to the style desired. Use your hands to gently smooth your hair into a beehive do or separate your locks for an exotic wild look. Easy as pie!

Don’t forget “the higher the hair – the closer to God”
Although this is a very good technique I watched a video of a dior hairstylist creating hair frizz a completely different way, and perhaps less damaging for those who have weak hair.
He used pins in small sections of hair and zig-zags pieces of hair in and out of the pin finishing with alot of hairspray. When the hair is taken out it become structured frizz which is then brushed with a soft brush. search ‘dior frizz the moment’ on google.
