BeautySmack Apprentice Marina is taking on Shampooing!

Shampoo

Marina seems to be progressing more and more each day.  Her excitement and eagerness to learn is infectious.  I find myself on the prowl for great hair in New York City.  In the subways, when I see a clean cut, I’m drifted to thoughts of the stylist, more so than the person wearing the cut.  What kind of consultation did they have?  How did they come up with the look?  Who was the shampoo girl?  I recently posted a post of some of her excellent braiding skills Marina used on me. (click here to view)  I hope you are enjoying Marina’s updates as her life as an apprentice as much as I am…

My first shampoo, blow dry, curl set on Miss Suzy!   The great talent is within;)  I was able to put all my new skills to the test.  The picture above is the finished product.  It’s interesting applying all the things I’ve learned to create one finished product.  My professor, Ms. Tonya,  is going to show me how to put Miss Suzy’s hair up into an up-do next!

Here is Miss Suzy sitting out to dry, normally I would put her under a hood dryer but since it was such a beautiful day I decided to save energy and let her bask in the sun…afterall she is just a dolly;)

I also shampood my first real human head..hehe..Sean volunteered himself.  There are all sorts of special finger techniques to use, and you also need to be aware of ears, eyes, and the water temperature while shampooing. Next, my friend Jess is going to come by the salon so I can wash and style her hair.  I’ll take pics to post soon.  By next Friday I’ll be officially shampooing for real clients…woo hoo! It’s very exciting but I’m still super nervous!  I guess that comes with all things new. :)
