A collaboration of beauty talent: Hair, make-up, photography

A 2 miles bicycle ride, on Cherri my Fuji cruiser, 10lb backpack containing my Canon, macbook, harddrive, and my heels – because, hey, I’m fashionable and reasonable. sneakers are for pedaling people- and I arrive, ready to write, in Swiftwater, Pa. greeted with fresh coffees, cinnamon buns, Peligrino, and pumpkin muffins to die for! Deep in the woods a commercial collaboration of talent is what I am witnessing today at an exclusive photo shoot for the The Loft, the hottest Winter sports shop in Pokes. So who is the talent today working on the shoot?

Sean Henry, owner and stylist of Salon Evol, is rocking the hair and style. Eileen Noelle, of Eileen Noelle Photography, is the the eye behind the camera today. Fawn Monique, kick ass celebrity make-up artist extraordinaire, is establishing the face of the shoot. Molly, an employee from the Loft, is our Winter Sports clothing stylist today. After listening to the team discuss locations, color, lightning and clothing.  Molly is definately the right choice for the challenge.  She knows what’s up with the latest fashions and wear from Burton, Oakley, and NorthFace, some of the top creators of Winter sports gear.  I grab a pumpkin muffin, down my fourth glass of water, sit back and smile.  This is going to be an exciting day.  The weather is a perfect 70 degrees, unusual for November, but the air is crisp and the wind is light.

Our stylist team is busy at work already. Sean is at one end curling, stealing clips from other models, and spray, spray, spraying hairspray.  Fawn in opposite with her table of cosmetics and belt of brushes.  Every-once-in-a while I pop over to take a photo to check how her work is photographing.  Everyone is pleased and excited.  I like this group, doesn’t feel like work at all :-)

I ask the styling team for their inspirations for today’s look on their models.  Sean works the casual look for commercial shoots.

“Commercial shoots are more clothing focused.  The hair today is more of an accessory.  It has to compliment the clothing.”

Sean sets the models hairs in rollers first, the hair sits throughout the make-up, and then he works out the curls with his fingers.  The result was a classic, casual look :-)  Just as he explained!

Here is Sean working on  Jordana Marchese, model, talent, and native of Brazil.

I asked Fawn where she came up with the ideas for the make-up on the three models?

“Jordana’s looks was very simple to create.  I just accentuate her natural features, and used my craft to bring out her eyes.  Molly was going to be modeling as a counter girl, so I wanted to create a more classic look.  When it came to Danielle I tried to envision what a snowboarder would look like, and I also use her age as inspiration for creating her look.  She’s young, so I wanted her make-up to be youthful”

Fawn carefully touching up Danielle’s make-up.

Apart from the room of stylists, models, and photographers, were two cats!

Rhythm and Blues were also part of the pre shoot extravaganza, and I guess they got hungry.
