Finger waves were a popular look in the 1920’s, and still a popular technique in beauty school. Using pins instead of curling irons or other appliances is the trick with this technique. Primitive, maybe. Necessary to learn. Maybe if the Bob’s return and need a little softer edge.

Shampooing someone’s hair the “Salon Way” is a lot more difficult than it seems. We all shampoo our own hair, men, women, and children alike, but doing it as a profession requires a certain amount of skill. It is much more than just wetting the hair and scalp and applying shampoo. You need to watch water temperature and be careful not to drench your client’s face. It sounds so simple, but the simplest task can require the most difficult attention.

Salon Evol has been pumpin’ out great looks and keeping Marina busy on perms since last week. With the holiday’s approaching appointments are filling up at Salon Evol which left little time for the staff to re-vamp their own color and cuts. Luckily, Marina was able to assist Jesse and Licia on some hair coloring and shampooing for themselves. But back to the main focus of this hairstyling lesson, PERMS!

BeautySmack would like to give some props to Sean Henry of Salon Evol, Eileen Noelle Photography , and the beautifuly pictured Senior and future model, Brianna. Brianna, a senior at Pocono Mountain High School in Pennsylvania, is a finalist for the annual Senior Portraits Artists (SPA) Model Contest. SPA is even generous enough to hold their annual event in some of the most desirable and warmest destinations of the Winter. This year SPA will be held in San Diego, at the Hotel Del on Coronado Island!

Anytime a girl is feeling down, whether she’s got money or not, Nikki and Olivia say go take a trip to Sephora! Nicole Regan, a holistic life coach, recommends that every woman should go out once-and-a-while and have a absolute guiltless beauty purchase. Whether it’s getting your hair done, buying a dress, or browsing through Sephora sometimes you just need to treat yourself to a little one-on-one girl time for peace-of-mind. So on Nikki’s recommendation, Olivia, Nikki’s adorable four year old angel, Nikki and I decided to treat ourselves to a Sephora day and lunch in Allentown, Pa. It’s nice to have gal pals to just waltz into a store with without any expectations other than just plain old browsing! Well on top of our holistic approach to boost our self admiration and love we also thought we’d give you a little insight on what these three gals found as the best gifts to give from Sephora.
